Cloud computing sounds like a fancy term but in reality the majority of people that are on the web are already in the cloud. Cloud computing in basic terms is the ability to store data and software in a different place other than their own computer via the internet. A simple example of cloud computing is when a user on Facebook uploads pictures, those pictures are then stored in Facebook’s storage centers. There are three types of cloud computing, infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service, and software-as-a-service. These provide businesses with many advantages. Most importantly it is cost efficient. It costs money to maintain and upgrade software, so with a one-time monthly fee or pay as you go options with companies that offer cloud services, the costs are cut down drastically.
